Comparing the phantom of the opera films.

The two Phantom of the Opera movies were written by Gaston Leroux. In both movies we can see different aspects of quality
such as: lighting, costumes and props. This can be seen in in the first movie. It is absolutely extraordinary!!! Because they managed to create an eerie atmosphere. I prefered the costumes and props of the second movie designed by Joel Schumacher because are more colorfull.

Both movies have different strong aspects because they were filmed in different periods. This is very clear in the Schumacher film especifically in the underground river scene where the lighting creates a gloomy dark environment.

Both directors did a great job in creating a superb enviroment for the spectator.

In behind the scenes, we can not only observe the FX of the green room, but also how the actors relate,and interact among themselves. This was very clear when we watched how Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy.
Another interesting aspect was the way actors trained ahead of time. We could see this in the butcher scene. The producers selected James McAvoy because they were searching for the someone with a common man profile.

This film is a mix of common action films and technology. This can be seen in the rat scene. They worked on the designs one by one, because they needed special and specifics movements from each rodent.

Between the two versions that we watched, I believe that Mel Brooks version is very funny. However, I prefer the first movie because the performers mirrored the original essence fo the story.

Like in the scene of the blind man, in Mel Brook’s version, he used more props,costumes and lighting than in the first version to highlight the scenes. I personally didn’t like the second version of Frankeisntein due to the strong Jew humor. If you don't enjoy this type of humor you'd might like to try something else.


Today, Mexico presented the first Frankenstein Opera directed by Jose Fors. Many important rock performers acted in this musical. It was presented in March 2009 at Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City.
